Britton and I went to the late show last night... last minute. I am wondering if it was because I was tired... but I am so disappointed! I feel like it had poor acting and poor transitions... and if you hadn't read the book you would have no idea what was going on. It felt cheaply made.
I will admit... Edward was cast well. So was Jasper, Alice and Laurent.
Let me know your thoughts. I think I need to see it again to get a better review! I want to love it!

it will grow on you.... i think it was a good representation of the book- don't tell me you didn't think jessica was perfectly cast. The book was full of sappy one liners that would definately lead to bad acting- i mean, some of the lines directly from the book- that I so very much loved- were awful in the movie because they made it more real. haha. anyway, i could type forever, but that will be my case in point today
I, believe it or not, liked it. I went into it thinking it was going to be awful. I did not like "Cedric" playing Edward. I liked Bella. Although, when I saw herr interview on the Today Show I was not impressed. Our whole theater was very into it. There were several girls that were squealing and oohing the whole time. It made it quite entertaining.Anyway, I am proud that Britton went with you. John happily went to a state football game.
I went in with very low expectations and even though I found some parts comical (the speeding through trees, his lecture to her on how he wasn't safe while jumping around her, etc), I really enjoyed it. I think the movie did capture the feeling of longing between Bella and Edward but I wish they had spent a little more time on their developing relationship.
I did not like Jasper, Dr. Cullen, or Rosalie but the rest of the characters were pretty good. I am planning on seeing it again, along with the lovesick teenie boppers, so maybe you need to give it a second chance. And no, Chad did not go with me. He was home watching the kids while I was on a weekend get-a-way with my girlfriends from high school. Cath and I were saying how Tony and Chad would have ruined the movie if we had gone with them. Britton is a good sport to accompany you.
I still haven't seen it and not sure when I will. I really want to, but haven't had a chance to. I heard that Bella was great, but the acting from most was bad. I am glad that I will have low expectations, maybe that will help. Does Aubrey babysit when you go to the late movie?
Jasper really? I thought a bit over done. I loved the book, but the movie, not so much. I thought it was rushed and the acting went from ok to awful at the end. Despite the negatives I thought it was entertaining. Really, did you make Britton go with you? What a good, I mean great husband!

I agree with you Lindsey. The show seemed very budget and some of the special effects were even laughable (ie - his glimmering). I also thought that there were way too many gratuitous stares that made the acting subpar. I was thinking that perhaps my negative view was due to the throngs of screaming teenagers during the movie so I'm planning to see it a second time. But I don't have high expectations.
I too really didn't like Jasper but thought that Charlie, Bella, Mike were right on.
You probably wouldn't remember me from the EFY office staff. Carolyn is a good friend and I linked over from her site.
I really didn't like Twilight the when I saw it opening night, and like Carolyn thought a lot of that might have been due to the throngs of screaming, crying, talking-during-the-movie crowd.
I decided to give it another chance. I went to the late show tonight, with only about 6 others in the theater, and I liked it a lot more! I think it helped that I'd already gotten over the differences between the book and the film the first time I saw it, so this time I just let myself enjoy it, rather than critiquing it. Of course, since it's not a work of art in terms of effects, it will be just as good on DVD later as it is in the theater now!
