I went with Aubrey's pod at school today on their field trip.
The field trip location chosen: Feed My Starving Children packing location.
The plan...
The students had chosen a month ago to raise $8000 to donate.
Money was to be raised through bake sales, fun runs, quarter collections etc.
After their goal was raised, they would then get to spend a morning packaging the manna meals that are sent all over the world to feed starving children.
Aubrey, as well as the rest of her pod, engulfed this project.
Rather than the $8000, they raised $15,000.
They beat out all other organizations in amount raised.
The local papers and news channels were called in to carry the story about how these 75-ish 13 year olds banned together to make a difference.
I was fortunate enough to be one of the parents chosen to chaperone.
Tears flowed readily as these kids worked and worked to package the meals.
Today, a bunch of 13 year olds packaged some 25,000 meals to feed starving kids
AND
they raised the money all on their own to provide for it.
In fact, they raised enough money for volunteers to spend the rest of the weekend packaging meals purchased under their donation.
Who's educating who?

She is quite the little lady! She learned from some pretty amazing parents...
It's a beautiful thing when helping those in need. Great job!
Aubrey, I know this project has meant a lot to you. Thanks for letting us share in the gift--but mostly, thanks for being such a wonderful and caring young lady. We love you!! Grammie and Papa
