Summer Day

Today was a fun summer day.

We ventured to Big Surf.

One word... Ghetto.

The last time I went to Big Surf was my 

8th grade end of year party with the entire 8th grade.

Not much had changed.

No one was there.

The kids ran from slide to slide.

We had a blast.

Uncle Rye played hookie and went with us.

Then... 

after we were sufficiently water logged and sun-kissed...

we graced

Lo Lo's Chicken & Waffles

(Thomas & Scottsdale Road)

with our smelly selves.

Cold Koolaid in large mason jars.

Homemade fried chicken.

Buttermilk waffles.

Red Beans & Rice.

Yum.

We had to keep ordering more chicken to satisfy Benton.

He couldn't get enough.

Best 2000 calorie dinner you'll ever have!

The kids were so tired

and sound wound up from all the fun 

(and sugared Koolaid...)

they spent the drive home 

trying to talk us into a movie.

I had to draw the line.

Showers.

Bed.

Good fun.
