This morning, at 4 AM, was the grand opening of the new Dunkin Donuts in our area. We have been so excited about it's arrival. We read in the local paper that the first 100 customers would get a free t-shirt that sported a picture of a drink on it. Whenever you wore the shirt, you would get a free serving of the drink that was on the shirt. We were jazzed.
So, we all set our alarms for 3:30 AM and roll into Dunkin Donuts at 3:45 AM in our pajamas. There was a buzz of excitement, kind of like it was Christmas eve. The kids were worried we would have competition and Britton and I thought for sure, "Who in their right mind would get up at this hour for donuts?" This one was in the bag for us!
As we turn in, to our amazement, there was a crowd of people wrapped around the building and we were clearly not going to be making the first 100 slots. We dash out of the car and run to get in line as others too are doing the same. The kids are hysterically yelling at Britton and I to hurry up! Chloe and Benton do a little spy work and head to the front of the line to do a quick count to see if we truly had missed the first 100. We had. In fact, we were probably the first 200 and still had a few minutes to wait and people were still gathering. All this for donuts!?!?!
BUT... it's not over yet! Britton notices there is a drive thru!!! With NO one in it!! So we whisper to each other and dash back to the car and cruise around. We were the first car to go through the drive through... and WIN our t-shirt! We felt so excited! We are the proud owners of a Dunkin Donuts t-shirt that will sport us a free iced tea anytime we want! Does it get better than that???!!! :)
We giggled all the way home as the kids ate donuts at 4 AM.

Holy Cow...you six win for the most fun had at 4 am this summer! You guys are so hilarious. I LOVE dunkin donuts, the boston cream pie donut was one of my favs. Enjoy one for me.

I'll give you and "A" for effort for waking up at 4 just to get free iced tea and donuts. Why not sell the shirt on eBay? It's worth at least 20 bucks. Why don't you guys check out our blog?
