Making My Millions... One Hour At A Time

I have a new job this year! I am working over at the Elementary School running a lunch program. At first, when I told my kids what I was doing, they were so thrilled that I would serving them their hot lunch at school. I quickly retracted my words, further clarifying my lunchtime whereabouts would NOT include anything with school food! I can do a lot of things, but I think I would struggle being the "lunch lady!" I personally have vivid memories of my lunch lady... mean scowl all the time, yelling at us that we get what get and that's it! I am sure she had a big hairy mole on her chin too if I remember correctly.

Anyhow, I work along side Michelle Willis and Carolyn Payne (magical Kindergarten teachers) and we provide month long service projects for the kids to work on that will benefit the community. Each month there is a different focus. This month the children are making bracelets for the children at the Crisis Nursery. It has been a great experience to see these kids "get it." For many of them, this is their first experience of giving. Many don't want to give up the bracelet they made for someone else. After we talk and explain the circumstances, they understand someone elses needs are greater then their own. For some, the internal natural drive to give is already there and they want to give up their lunch to make more. My favorite part is the note the kids write to attach to their bracelet. It is a blessing to be around these kids... they are good to the core.
